CMCB Sets Up Website for Hurley Musicians

Adam Epstein from the Community Music Center of Boston has created a website for his music classes, grades 3–7. As an extension of classroom time, the website will include audio and video files of weekly mini-lessons for students to review at home to support their music learning over the course of the week. Visit the site at http://hurleymusic.weebly.com/. Parents are encouraged to explore this site with your child and to visit the blog regularly to see what's happening in music class.

Spring Fundraiser Raises $45,000!

NPHS’s May 4, 2008, fundraising bash at The Beehive was a smashing success. Thanks to the generosity of the many businesses and individuals in our community and beyond, we raised $45,000 for the school! We transformed the Beehive into a prohibition-era speakeasy, and guests enjoyed delish food, danced to a 20s Dixieland jazz band, and posed for “paper moon” photos.

Hurley School awarded $265,000 Grant to Develop a Dual Language After School Program

The Hurley School was recently awarded a $265,000 grant to develop an after-school program that extends the daytime curriculum and meets the needs of this unique dual language school. Read more...

Hurley to go pre-K through 8!

The Hurley School will add a pre-K (K1) class and add grades 6-8. As part of this transition the Hurley will become a bilingual-only school once all children currently in the school have completed grade five. The transition will start in the fall of 2007 with the addition of pre-K and 6th grade classes.

School Preview Time

If your child will be five on September 1st, 2007 (or four for pre-K), it's time to start the process of choosing a school. The Hurley will have open houses December 6th and January 17th at 9am. You'll have a chance to tour the school and meet the principal, teachers, and parents of current Hurley students. Hurley Receives Two Grants

Over the summer the Hurley School and NPHS received two grants. a $5,000 grant was received from the Laura Bush Foundation to purchase books for the Hurley's new library. The school also received a $20,000 grant from edVestors. This grant and other NPHS funds will be used to fund a new Community Engagement Coordinator position at the school.

Hurley Gym Renovated

Over the summer the Hurley's gym was restored to be used for its original purpose. Walls that divided the gym into four small rooms were removed, linoleum was pulled up and the original wood floor was refinished. Basketball hoops and wall pads were installed and the gym is now being used by students during the day and in the after school program. NPHS worked closely with City Councilor Jim Kelly and the BPS to make the renovation a reality!
